• “Blitz” events promote student enrollment in ϲ̳ 

      ϲ̳ is taking its student enrollment process on the road to make it more convenient for families to register their children for school.  Representatives will be at five community locations over the next two weeks to conduct the school district’s “Student Enrollment Blitz.”

      The community locations, dates, and times are listed below:

      Monday, July 15
      Erwin Center, 913 N. Pryor Street, Gastonia
      10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

      Wednesday, July 17
      Creekside Estates, 204 Chinook Road, Bessemer City
      9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

      Monday, July 22
      Dallas Gym, 208 W. Church Street, Dallas
      10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

      Wednesday, July 24
      Lineberger Park, 632 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia
      11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

      Saturday, August 3
      2500 Sedgefield Drive, Gastonia
      11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

      To register at one of the “Student Enrollment Blitz” locations, parents/guardians should bring their ID along with a copy of their child’s birth certificate and health records, and two proofs of residence.  No appointment is needed.  When participants arrive at the “Blitz” location, they should look for the ϲ̳ registration tents and an activity school bus. 

      The “Student Enrollment Blitz” concept is designed to take the registration process into communities rather than having families come to the Student Assignment Office in Gastonia or complete enrollment online.  Additionally, the “Blitz” is a way for families to take care of enrollment now instead of in August prior to the start of school when in-person and online enrollment is busy.  Registering early also makes it easier for schools when assigning students to classes and planning for the first day, which is Wednesday, August 14.

      If families cannot make it to one of the “Blitz” events, they can still register in person and online (www.gaston.k12.nc.us – click on the “How to Enroll” tab).  In-person registration takes place at the Student Assignment Office, which is located at the former Forest Heights Elementary School in Gastonia.  The office is open Monday - Thursday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. (closed on Friday) now through July 26.  Regular business hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) resume on July 29.  For more information about student registration, call the Student Assignment Office, (704) 810-7284.
